19 years dedicated to making systems work for people

After getting hired at Lante Corporation, a technology consulting company, I asked the Principal what made his hiring decision. I thought it was because I offered to let him try out driving my dune buggy in the sands of Glamis, CA. He did feel that that was an intriguing prospect but my response to his question on what I thought of the burgeoning B2B e-commerce industry was the deciding factor. When I finished answering he asked me how I could come up with that off the top of my head. I answered: “Because I am an analyst – that is what I do.”

I started my career at Baxter Healthcare Medical Specialty Devices Division (now Edwards Lifesciences NYSE: EW) as a Sales and Marketing Analyst in 1991 attempting to forecast a complex 2000+ custom manufacturing operation in MS Excel. I moved on to designing and developing the business process, forecasting system and inventory management system in MS Access applications as a prototype. Then to custom VB applications with the help of a great bunch of developers which ultimately saved the company $2 million dollars a year in excess and obsolete inventory and reduced the cycle time of adding new products by 2 months. I handled all aspects of the system except for coding – UR, System Specs, Development Testing, QA and User Acceptance Testing, End User Documentation, Training, Support, Enhancement Requests and Operational Issue Management. I also implemented a CRM application in Lotus Notes (Prevail) and trained 15 sales reps to train their 150 peers on the system as we rolled it out.
The above Principal hired me away to make B2B e-commerce applications happen. Although the dot.com bust and the dissolvement of Lante Corporation interrupted that challenge, I enjoyed consulting with whatshotnow.com and a commercial real estate consortium. My final project before the Southern California office closed was to lead a team of 4 business analysts to gather requirements and create Use Cases from SME’s from 4 competing commercial real estate companies with different business models in 8 weeks. We completed on time and on budget.
I then moved on to the challenges of the sub-prime mortgage industry at Option One Mortgage as a Business System Analyst managing multiple softeware projects and then Project Manager of an Enterprise Data Warehouse project until a geographic move precipitated a change.
An opportunity developed at Liberty IMS to help a colleague I met at Option One with QA/Documentation. This position was great because I could work virtually and bring my QA, Documentation, Training, User Experience and SDLC experience to help formalize their QA process, upgrade and convert their application help from RoboHelp to Madcap Flare and document many of their undocumented systems and features.
I am confident that you will be pleased with the skills and experience portrayed in my accompanying resume. You can also view my LinkedIn profile.

I look forward to assisting your company with the technology challenges you face.
Sincerely,
Margaret B. Back
